April/May Goals/Resolutions update!
I hadn't had a the time to do this last month... and well, since I'm stuck here at home with hardly anything to do, I decided to just take a look at this ever evolving list of goals and what nots for the year! :)
1. get myself a master's degree
Enrollment's in a few weeks! I need to attend a couple of workshops first though. But yeah, everything's looking good. Umm.. as for that UK thing, I might try out there as soon as I take and pass IELTS/TOEFL. This won't be striken off though until I get my degree. :)
2. exercise! my hamstrings are too short, I can't even stretch properly! grrr...
Umm.. sorry. I've been such a slob. UNhealthy living had reigned over these past few months. Thanks to that 8-hour desk job that sometimes morphs into a 10-22hour thing! It seems like everything's back to normal though, I might just start going to the gym. Det doesn't like to play badminton with me anymore. :(
3. go to at least 3 NEW places/provinces/islands in the Philippines I haven't been to.
I think I have to wait for that trip to Cebu and Bohol for this. I could have gone to another diving destionation in Puerto but no, Caloy had to screw up everything. :( Next, please.
4. travel outside the Philippines at least once.
Hay! Here we go again. Because of those series of workshops, I might need to skip that trip to Sing my mom had been planning these past few months. :( But I'm still planning to go to whereever within the year. Thailand? Palau? Maybe, Malaysia. Who knows? I still have 6 more months to plan and hit the road.
5.
Okay, this one won't ever get off my list. I don't want to forget about diving just because I'm already certified. I need to hone my diving skills, have to learn how to equalize better or at least prevent my nose's capillaries from rupturing everytime I dive! Nosebleeds suck! Our C-card's on our way and we already have a temp C-card just in case. Yay to us! I finally got us our very own wetsuits and for a really good deal! I only spent P5,200 for a pair. :) I just hope we can dive again before Summer ends. Have I mentioned that I totally am hating the weather?! Again, Screw CALOY! Grr...
6. at least start learning a new language. (a new programming language too if possible.)
I sort of had a crash course on ASP.NET and C#.NET! hahaha.. Thanks to Google, Rvin, Tris and some other cool C# forums, we managed to pull the first installment of the project off! Phew! I'm still learning though, give me a few more months and I could probably stand on my own already. Weehee! Next in line's French. Let's learn it together! :) (I won't strike this out 'til I'm confident with them.)
7.
I did manage to keep my job and now am safe of being fired. :P But my performance was probably mediocre since he thinks it was just satisfactory. Oh well. As long as I'm doing my job and I'm getting paid, I won't complain. :P I'm trashing that promotion hype. I was appraised, I got a raise, though it was very minimal, but a raise a raise right? Let's just leave it as that. Period. :P
8.
Yeah, I should still continuously reach out and befriend people around me. I know.
9. improve posture. no more slouching. :( I don't want to be paralyzed.
again, note to self. why do I always have to be reminded?! Hallur KATE!??! :P
10.
Umm... I've lost 20lbs in 6months and am considered as underweight at 120lbs since I'm standing at 5'6 1/2" So I probably won't be doing this anytime soon. I don't want to lose more weight. According to my mom, I look too pale and unhealthy already and hardly getting any sleep and finding it hard to sqeeze in meals during the day's not helping at all. As soon as gain back at least 5lbs, I might do that Lemon Cleanse thing, Candice showed me online.
11. save up.
Okay, I haven't really started with this. I had to spend on the wetsuits, among others! hahahaha Plus I don't really know how I'm going to tell my mom that I'm planning to reduce the amount I'd been giving her since I started working again. Aside from that, enrollment's in a few weeks, so I have to raise money for that, and I WANT TO GO SKYDIVING S-O-O-N! meaning a large chunk of moolah needs to be channelled there too. Here's the plan though. P5k for mommy every payday or P10k a month (that is if I won't need to spend on something important, i.e., tuition fees, wherein that amount'll probably be reduced to just P5k a month), P3-5k (whatever's left) will STAY on my main/work ATM account, and any more extra amount (more OT pay, if and when that happens again :P) to a separate bank account I'm set to open soon that'll fund any travel expedition or vice that may come up hehe :P though I have to deduct 2k for personal expenses from that since I don't want to starve to death or die of fatigue because of walking to and from work. Sounds good enough? I wish I could do it though! :P Ack! Now you pretty much have an idea on how much I'm making.. bwehehehe :P
12. read more.
My copy of Anansi Boys had been on my bedside and constant companion to trips to wherever for almost 6 months now! hahahaha... I need new supplies. I don't think I should ask for any more though since come June, I probably would have more readings than I can handle.
13. go back to my Thursday routine.
Okay. I need to get back on track with this. Everything had happened so fast these past months that I hardly had to do anything. I need to take a breather. This Thursday seems to be a good start.
14. VOLUNTEER! :)
I hadn't had the chance to attend HOM's orientations. Will do so soon though. I WANT TOO! WITH OR WITHOUT sleep, I swear I'd go.
15. SURF!
Probably this'll happen later this year. :) Hooorraaay!!!
new addition:
16. SKYDIVE!
Hopefully this June. Oooo-Weeeee! I can't wait! Can't wait!
Non-tangibles, I don't know what to call them e..
1. Smile more. Worry less. Learn how to relax.
I'm planning on going to this water spa on my birthday. That should help. :P
2. Stop complaining and start working.
I've minimized my ranting. Honest. :)
3. Control my temper. hehehe
I would've done perfectly on this if not for Caloy. hehehe :)
4. GROW UP. Act maturely.
growth is a continuous process... :P
5. avoid confrontational situations. I no longer want to get into a fight with anybody.
Nada. Yay! :)
6. Count and share my blessings.
I think I'm going to start a daily blessings/gratitude blog/list soon.
Looks like I'm getting somewhere. :) We'll see. 6 more months, Kate, 6 short months.

Looks like you've a handful of things to do this year. Good luck!
#3 and #4. Mmmmm, sounds good!
#6. I took 6 units of French as a language elective back in my college days. I'd say they were the best classes I had compared to my engineering (read: math-physics) majors. Be prepared to speak the language. As my professor said, "In the French language, everything glides." You'll see.
#14. What volunteer endeavors do you have in mind?
#15 and #16. {twitches and drools a little, envious}
Thanks! About volunteering, I actually don't have anything singled out yet. I want to get into it because I don't want to feel that I'm isolated from the outside world and besides, if time's the only time I can share, might as well use it for something worthwhile.
Btw, I just realized that you could be related to a workmate of mine, she's a Tungol from Pampanga... wala lang.. :P
Anyway, cya around.
The Tungols hail from Pampanga. On two counts, we probably are related. If it's not to much to ask, any chance you can get us introduced? Thanks! :)
About volunteering, try the World Wildlife Fund or Haribon Foundation--especially if you're the outdoor type. They have good volunteer programs that can get you involved in saving the Philippine environment, or even get you to as far as Batanes or around the country if you're up to it.
she's a Tongol pala. Sorry... Do you still want to know her? :) If so, just leave me your email add and I'll give it to her. :)
Hmm, I'm not that sure now if she's Tongol. Probably she's still my distant relative. For now, I think I'll leave it at that. Thanks anyway, at pasensya na din sa hassle :)
